THE INSTALLATION CEREMONY OF THE 4TH PRESIDENT RTR. SHAN GLINGTAN OF THE ROTARACT CLUB OF PEACE CITY HATTON.
The Installation ceremony of the 4th President Rtr. Shan Glingtan and the Board of Directors was held on the 23rd of August at the Green Hill Retreat Center with the presence of PHF.Rtn.Sekar Perianna, Rtn.IPP.Raj Rajalingam, PHF.Rtn.PP.Dinesh Selliah, PHF.Rtn.Jeyabalan, District Roratact Representative Rtn.Rtr.PP.Kavindra Kasun Sigera, Co District Rotaract Chairperson Rtn.PP.Jude Surenthran, the Rotaract Zone Representative Rtr.PP.Charutha, Rtr.PP.Aruchchuni- the Guide club Coordinator, members from the District steering committee Rotaractors of fellow clubs and parents and was posted live through our club Facebook page.
After a small brief on the journey of the club for three years, the event began with the lighting of the traditional oil lamp and with a warm welcome by Rtr.PP.Vibanjani and Rtr.Harini. This was then followed by Rtr.Pathmasritharan, the President of the Rota year 2019/20 calling the Installation Ceremony to order.
The installation officially commenced with the National Anthem followed by the Rotaract formalities; The Flag Salutation, Rotaract Invocation and the Four-way test followed by the Rotaract song. The project chairperson of the installation and the Director of Club Service, Rtr.Vibanjani extended a warm welcome and addressed the gathering at the occasion. The Outgoing Secretary Rtr.Shan Glingtan, then presented the Secretary’s Report for the year 2019/20, in which it was obvious that the team as one has stood united, true to the motto of “United we Stand” in achieving their goals for the year and by completing 24 amazing projects making the year a success.
Next, the Outgoing President Rtr.IPP.Pathmasridharan addressed the gathering and spoke about how happy and grateful he felt at the end of his tenure as president on the good job he and his team has been able to do and he expressed his heartfelt gratitude to all who supported and guided him throughout the journey as the president and made it a success. He especially thanked the parent club, the Rotary Club of Wattala for providing the guidance they’ve been giving us through all these years.
The introduction of the Incoming President of year 2020/21, Rtr. Shan Glingtan was the made by Rtr.PP.Vibanajni where she mentioned him as a hard working, inspiring and fun –to-work-with person and a loving and caring individual who is always ready with solutions and has a natural tendency to be by your side in times of need.
This was followed by the collaring of the incoming president Rtr.Shan Glingtan and handing over the Gavel and charter certificate by the outgoing president, Rtr.IPP.Pathmasritharan.
The then newly inducted president for the year 2020/21 addressed the gathering and in his speech he stated “The experience I gained throughout the years from Past Presidents and my fellow Rotaractors really opened my eyes to the significant work done in the community by Rotaract….It’s a pleasure to be a part of this wonderful organization and to serve the community as youngsters”.
He further stated “In this year we challenge ourselves to reach within our own heart to understand that all of humanity same dreams, same hopes and the similar problems. We must therefore work together to ensure that all humans realize their dreams and hopes to solve the problems”, ensuring and emphasizing the motto of the club once again; “United we Stand”.
President Rtr.Shan Glingtan then concluded his speech by thanking the Rotaray Club of Wattala, fellow Rotaractors, all individuals who had supported him and last but not least his very loving parents. He then moved on to introduce his Executive Committee and Board of Directors for the year 2020/2021 as follows while handing them out with their appointment letters:

Next the District Rotaract Representative Rtn.Rtr.PP.Kavindra Kasun Sigera addressed the gathering wishing the outgoing president and the board a job well done, congratulating the incoming president and board and emphasizing the need to create an impact among youngsters and joining hands in decreasing the distance between the non-rotaractors and rotaractors in order to create new hands in joining to build up a stronger and united community.
This was followed by wishes from the Co District Rotaract Chairperson Rtn.Jude Senthuran and then the address by the Guest of Honour Rtn.IPP.Raj Rajalingam who was very much excited in providing another year of support and guidance to us and also working with us while he further made sure to discuss about the importance of the impact we make through our projects. After his address he gave out some tokens of appreciation to the outgoing president Rtr.IPP.Pathmasritharan and also acknowledged the commitment of Rtr.Ramala and Rtr.Dhanushan by handing them out with some tokens of appreciation. This was then followed by the chief guest PHF.Rtn.Sekar perianna’s address and wishes for the club.Following this the members of the club were given out certificates of appreciation.
The floor was then open to felicitation and then the Vote of Thanks was delivered by Rtr.Ramala, the secretary for the year 2020/21. The installation ceremony came to an end with the president Rtr.Shan Glingtan officially adjourning the ceremony.
